Air Quality in Germany – Open Data for Everyone

How clean is the air we breathe?

The air we inhale every day contains various substances – some of them harmful to health and the environment. The German Environment Agency (UBA) continuously monitors air quality across the country and provides up-to-date and reliable data in a transparent way.

Whether you're a concerned citizen or a scientific researcher: UBA's air quality data is a valuable resource for everyday decisions, academic work, and policymaking.

Air Quality Index (AQI): Understand air pollution at a glance

UBA’s Air Quality Index (AQI) summarizes pollution levels from major pollutants like particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and ozone (O3). It ranges from "very good" to "very poor" – color-coded and easy to interpret.
